Extreme heat... Meteorology announces details of Monday's weather
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts extremely hot and humid weather during the daytime across most regions on Monday, with humidity levels continuing to rise significantly.
The EMA confirmed that the most prominent weather phenomena expected today include dense fog in the morning (from 4 to 8 a.m.) on some agricultural and expressways, particularly those leading to and from Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, and the North Coast. This may affect horizontal visibility.
The EMA added: "South Sinai and the Red Sea mountain ranges are witnessing a chance of light rain in scattered areas (especially Halayeb and Shalateen), along with active winds reaching speeds of up to 30 km/h."
The EMA stated that Greater Cairo is expected to record a maximum temperature of 40°C today, while it will reach 45°C in southern Upper Egypt and 44°C in northern Upper Egypt. This will be accompanied by sunny skies and high humidity, which will increase the feeling of heat.
In South Sinai and the Red Sea mountain ranges, there is a chance of light rain, along with active winds reaching speeds of up to 30 km/h, which will help moderate the weather at times.
The Red Sea will be moderate to rough at times, with waves reaching 1.75 to 2.25 meters, requiring caution during marine activities.
